Student Council is an organization conducted by students and supervised by adults. The purpose of the student council is to give students an opportunity to develop leadership by organizing and carrying out school activities and service projects. In addition to planning events that contribute to school spirit and community welfare, the student council is the voice of the student body. They help share student ideas, interests and concerns with the school wide community.
The function of the student council is based upon parliamentary procedures. Ideas are presented, voted upon and confirmed by the student body president. Any student that is interested in leadership, organizational behavior, event planning or becoming more involved in the school are welcome to become involved.

It is not enough to simply listen to student voice. Educators have an ethical imperative to do something with students, and that is why meaningful student involvement is vital to school improvement.
The Associated Student Body President is the primary student representative for RA Long High School. They must represent all of the students to the school's staff and community, efficiently and effectively.
The Associated Student Body Vice President is the secondary student representative for RA Long High School. They must assist the ASB President in the representation al all students in the school, as well as the staff and community.
The Associated Student Body Treasurer shall keep records of all activities and programs. The Treasurer will work the ASB Bookkeeper and ASB President to develop and monitor ASB Funds and Budgets for each school wide activity.
The Associated Student Body Student Liaison responsible updating and managing Leadership Social Media sites and represent the student body at public events as designated by the ASB President.
The Associated Student Body Executive Liaison is responsible for attending board meetings, booster club meetings and other functions that require ASB representation. They are to report recaps of these meetings back to the Student Council.
The Associated Student Body Tech Coordinator is responsible for the operation of technology needs at events, and maintaining a proper facility use schedule for ASB events.
