What is a good reason to apply for scholarships?

The obvious reason to apply for a scholarship is because you are working towards an amazing opportunity that will eventually pay off remarkable dividends in the future. Although applying for scholarships takes time and energy, they are usually very rewarding in the long run because of the many perks that they offer.

A scholarship might cover the entire cost of your tuition, or it might be a one-time award of a few hundred dollars. Either way, it's worth applying for, because it'll help reduce the cost of your education.
